Social Media Management

Throughout my career so far, I’ve been the Social Media Manager for the European League of Football and the Hamburg Sea Devils, helping build their online and social presence from day one. Social media is a key part of sports — it’s how you share the team’s and brand’s story, keep fans and stakeholders engaged, and communicate what matters most. It’s all about knowing the strengths of each platform, creating the right kind of content for each one, and using the right tone to connect with your audience, grow your following, and boost impressions.

Driving growth.

In my work, I’ve developed extensive expertise in building (sports)brands and launching social media channels from the ground up, focusing on identifying and growing working content. Over the years, I’ve learned how to adapt strategies to keep up with evolving trends, successfully growing channels from zero to over 170,000 followers. Along the way, I’ve created a wide range of content—informative, viral, emotional, and commercial—meant to connect with audiences and drive meaningful engagement. Communication on social media is all about representing your brand, while still having fun and creating unique memories for your community and the vivid digital space.

Content Mix & Strategy

My journey on social media has taught me that it's all about crafting, refining, and maintaining a balanced content mix and strategy. Over the years, I’ve learned that leaving enough space for creativity is key and that it’s important not to be afraid of experimenting with new ideas. The digital landscape is constantly changing, so it's essential to adapt the content mix and strategy to stay ahead of the curve and keep your audience on their toes. Sometimes it’s about taking a risk with your content to grow in a oversaturated market. It’s also crucial to have a hands-on mentality and to know all the ins-and-outs of content creation to create a seamless online presence. Know which type of content will deliver the message and don’t overcomplicate it.

The importance of speed.

In social media, especially in sports, accurate and sensible timing is everything. Since sports often revolve around covering live events or breaking stories, speed is crucial. Over the multiple seasons, I’ve gained a great knowledge of having a fast paced workflow while maintaining a polished look and round them off with snappy but fitting captions. While preparation is key, the real challenge is being able to adapt and respond in real-time to ensure content reaches your audience without delay. In the world of sports content, waiting for perfection is never an option—being fast is what truly matters.

Creating a media environment.

Building and leading a strong, creative, and productive content team is essential when managing a league or team. Over the years, I’ve gained invaluable experience in assembling and guiding media teams to deliver creative content in any situation. I’ve also learned the importance of structured archiving and the value of creating a league-wide media exchange network that covers every aspect of content creation across Europe. This approach ensures seamless collaboration and consistency across all teams and projects.
